Racing at the Nürburgring ain’t easy. Germany’s most (in)famous racetrack is a gnarly thing, bending and winding through the woods, across seriously volatile terrain. Because of the circuit’s massive size and wild elevation changes, the weather can change entirely in the span of a few corners. It’s a bitch to negotiate in ideal conditions. But during a hailstorm? Almost impossible.

And, yet, that’s what a field of more than 30 cars are trying to do, right now, at the ADAC 24 Hours of Nürburgring endurance race. Per BMW North America factory driver John Edwards:
